5 ministerial-level and provincial-level research platforms have been established within the institute, and they are: National Research and Development Sub-center for Vegetable Processing Technology, Aquatic Vegetable Production Technology Integration Base of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Engineering Research Center for Nutrition and Functional Development of Characteristic Agricultural Products in Jiangsu Province, Engineering Technology Research Center for Agricultural Products Processing and Nanjing (Mingtian) Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Products Processing.
The research facility system has a total investment of RMB 40 million and a research and development site of 5,000 m2, equipped with the high-performance liquid chromatography system, microfluidics nano-homogenizer, laser particle size analyzer, high-power pulse microwave sterilizer, high-precision modified atmosphere packaging machine, in vitro simulated digestive system and other high value instruments and equipment; lutein/anthocyanin functional product pilot production line, probiotic fruit and vegetable juice pilot production line, characteristic fruit wine fermentation pilot production line, fresh (cooked) poultry products processing line, aquatic product processing pilot production line, controlled atmosphere cold storage, pressure-difference precooling storage after harvest and other pilot production and storage facilities.
