The Institute of Veterinary Immunology and Engineering, formerly known as the National Research Center of Engineering and Technology for Veterinary Biologicals, was established in March, 2017. We are striving to make key technological breakthroughs in veterinary vaccine production. Many new technologies and products, such as suspension culture, heat-resistant freeze-drying and immune enhancement technologies, poultry and swine vaccines developed have been promoted and applied in 16 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country, covering the top 10 enterprises in the veterinary vaccine industry in China. In 2014, the Institute (then the Center) was honored as a National Advanced Group of Professionals in Technology.

2.The innovative team has broad research interests in developing genetic engineering vaccines based on animal herpesviruses and viral vectored vaccines. We focuses on innovative technologies including structure-based antigen design, high-efficiency antigen expression, etc. We are especially interested in studying the pathogenic mechanisms of animal herpesviruses, and cellular and mucosal immune mechanisms elicited by genetically engineered vaccines based on these viruses.
1. Research direction of classic poultry vaccine: mainly engaged in inactivated vaccine research of single and combined vaccines against Newcastle disease, avian influenza H9, egg drop syndrome, infectious bronchitis and infectious bursal disease, etc.
2. Research direction of new poultry vaccines: mainly engaged in research on pathogens, pathogenic mechanism, vaccine development and immune control technology of poultry infectious diseases, with a sound research foundation in virus-like particle vaccine, surface display vaccine and avian immune enhancer, etc.
