Research directions: strawberry germplasm resources research, breeding of new strawberry varieties with disease resistance and high quality, research and development of efficient strawberry cultivation technology and physiological and biochemical mechanism.

Main Achievements: Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, the lab yield 10 new varieties such as Ningyu, Ningfeng and Zijin Jiuhong, 1 agricultural industry standard, 7 Jiangsu local standards, 10 authorized patents and more than 70 published papers. In 2011, the “Demonstration and Promotion of New Varieties and Technologies of Protected Strawberry” won the second prize of Jiangsu Agricultural Technology Promotion Award. In 2015 and 2018 respectively, “Breeding of Strawberry ‘Ningyu’ and Other Varieties & Integrated Application of Efficient Cultivation Techniques”, “Breeding and Application of New Varieties of Disease-resistant and High-quality Protected Strawberry” won the first prize of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences Science and Technology Award. The newly bred strawberry varieties and the cultivation techniques developed have been well promoted and applied inside and outside Jiangsu with remarkable social and economic benefits.
