Recently, the scientists of the Institute of Agricultural Facilities and Equipment invited Prof. Tomas Norton for two academic exchanges. Prof. Tomas Norton is the head of Precision Livestock Farming, M3-BIORES, and has long been engaged in the researches of understanding and monitoring the behaviour of confined animals when exposed to different stressors (environmental, health, management) with the help of sensor technology (with current focus on computer vision and audio processing).
On November 21st, Prof. Tomas Norton was invited to give a presentation entitled “Advances in Precision Livestock Farming: Pig Production”, in which Prof. Tomas Norton elaborated on the monitoring technology for obtaining productivity, health, and welfare of live pigs.
On November 28st, Prof. Tomas Norton was invited to give another presentation entitled “Advances in Precision Livestock Farming: Poultry Production”, in which he talked about the governing equation of animal production, and poultry production monitoring case based on machine vision.
