A new type of strawberry cultivation tank effectively overcomes soil-borne diseases

Strawberry research is a strong discipline in JAAS, with strengths in strawberry breeding and germplasm innovation. In light of the aging population in China, the Strawberry Team of JAAS has developed a new strawberry cultivation tank to solve the continuous cropping obstacles.

Strawberry cultivation is vulnerable to fusarium wilt, anthracnose and other emerging diseases in recent years, such as “Red Leaf Disease” and “Hollow Disease” in China, which seriously restrict strawberry production development. The newly-developed cultivation tank combines the advantages of traditional field planting and high-bench substrate cultivation. It can not only effectively maintain the ground temperature required for strawberry growth, but also use clean substrate cultivation to avoid the risk that reused soil is prone to spread soil borne diseases. At the same time, it can also make efficient use of land and double planting strawberry in the same area of soil. Recently, relevant research results has been authorized with national invention patent (patent number: ZL201910048749.6).
