A new rice cultivar developed by JAAS certified as “Low GI Food” both domestically and internationally

The "white lightning rice" developed by Jiangsu Rice Science and Technology Ltd. and the conventional rice breeding team of Institute of Food Crops has been certified as “Low GI(Glycemic Index) Food” by Australian Glycemic Index Foundation and China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries. According to WS/-T 652-2019 Standard for Determination of Food Glycemic Index by People’s Republic of China, the test carried out by China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries turns out the GI values of this rice is 51, thus the "white lightning rice" is judged to be a low GI food on the basics of the "7 determinations of results" of the standard. Meanwhile, China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries stands the only domestic certification body that obtains authorization by the Glycemic Index Foundation in Australia.
