The Progress towards Eradication of Peste des Petits Ruminants through Vaccination (first author: Zhao Hang of the Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition, JAAS ) has recently been adopted and reported by multiple international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI), and United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). In the report, relevant data on the prevention and control of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) were systematically collected for the first time; data from the Food and Agriculture Organization Corporate Statistical Database (FAOSTAT), the World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS), regional roadmap conferences, and PPR Monitoring and Assessment Tool (PMAT) questionnaires in various countries were analyzed; the progress in the eradication of PPR after the global implementation of PPR Global Control and Eradication Strategy was summarized; guidance and recommendations for further prevention and control through vaccination were proposed.

In January 2021, FAO released the content of the report on its official website and was congratulated by more than 80 FAO local offices. Felix Njeumi, FAO Coordinator of the FAO/OIE PPR GEP Secretariat, discussed the report data and recommendations at many international conferences such as the Management Conference of GF-TADs (Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases). He believed that the report was a fruitful result of the cooperation with Chinese and British experts.

It has been reported by many research institutions. In January 2021, the report was published in Eradication of PPR: Enhancing the Understanding of Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Vaccine Efficacy at the special invitation by Viruses. The study was reported by many animal health-related research institutes such as STAR-IDAZ International Research Consortium on Animal Health (STAR-IDAZ IRC), as well as multiple news media such as Australian real-time media Mirage News and Outbreak News Today. According to the scores by Altmetric, a global impact evaluation website of research results, the report was among the top 5% research results in its impact.
