IRRI-JAAS Joint Lab was established in 2018. It is based in Jiangsu, expanding to the rest of China and benefitting the whole world. The goal of the lab is to address key scientific questions and tackle major constrains of japonica rice production in China and world. The lab will initiate programs in germplasm enhancement, cloning and characterization of genes of high value and breeding of new japonica rice varieties and propose science solutions and advance reproducible and propagable technologies to make significant contributions to the research and development of japonica rice in China and world.
Research orientation:
Identification and characterization of germplasm and R genes/QTLs against RBSDV
Identification and characterization of germplasm and R genes/QTLs against rice blast
Characterization of molecular mechanisms underlying disease resistance
Germplasm enhancement and breeding new varieties
