    Titles:    Professor, Supervisor for Graduate Student from Nanjing Agricultural University.

    Major research areas: Collection, conservation, characterization, evaluation, development and utilization of wheat Germplasm.

    Major scientific achievementsProfessor Cai has made major contributions to the conservation of wheat germplasm. More than 8000 accessions have been conserved in the germplasm bank. Significant progress has been made in the evaluation and identification of wheat germplasm with water-logging tolerance, resistance to pre-harvest sprouting, sharp eyespot and Fusarium head blight. A new wheat variety named Ningyan No.1 with resistance to water-logging and scabs as well as Ningnuo No.1 have been developed. Nine prizes for scientific and technical progress have been awarded by national, ministerial, or provincial authorities. One cultivar has been protected under the new plant variety protection. Two books and more than 50 papers and have published.  

    Honors and Professional Membership:

    l         Honored as Young and Middle aged experts with distinguishing Contributions by the Jiangsu Provincial Government in June, 1997.

    l         The second level talent of Jiangsu Provincial Talent Training program in 1998

    l         Member of the Council Branch of Genetic Resources of the Chinese Agronomy Society since 2001.
