Prof. Yu Wengui, member of CPC (Communist Party of China), supervisor of graduate students. He was granted bachelor degree from Nanjing Agricultural University in 1982. From December 1986 to December 1988, he conducted researches in disease-resistant vegetable varieties breeding in Cornell University(USA).
He has devoted himself to the researches in tomato genetic breeding, bio-technology and new varieties selection as well as traditional tomato breeding. He has led or participated in more than 10 projects under National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), National Key Technology R&D Program, Introduction of International Advanced Agricultural Science and Technology Program (948 Program), Jiangsu High-tech Research Program, etc.. He has published 7 books and 27 academic papers. His researches entitled 6 achievement awards, 4 invention patens, 1 utility model patent, 12 local standards and 5 authorized new variety rights. He was honored with Excellent Young and Mid-aged Scientists with Outstanding Contributions, Jiangsu 333 High-level Talented Scientist, etc..
He is also the director of the Provincial Genetics Society and Society for Horticultural Science, deputy director of Tomato Society of Chinese Society for Horticultural Science, and director of Chinese Society for Seed Science.
