Experts from the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) and China Agricultural University visited JAAS for academic exchanges
Profs. Pierre Cellier and Eric Justes of the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) and Prof. Chen Fu, director of Regional Agricultural Development Research Center of China Agricultural University, were invited to JAAS for academic exchanges from July 19 to 20. Prof. Ye Xiaomei, director of Circular Agriculture Research Center of JAAS, chaired the reception. Over JAAS scientists and graduate students of Circular Agriculture Research Center and the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment listened to the academic talks by the three visiting experts. Prof. Wang Ran, director of Department of International Cooperation also attended the reception.
With the title Interactions between Climate Change, Air Pollution and Agriculture, Prof. Pierre Cellier details the trade-offs between climate change, air pollution, agricultural production and food security, and proposes to integrate large-scale climate, soil and agricultural system condition data and use models to conduct comprehensive research and evaluation within the context of agricultural systems.
Prof. Eric Justes gave a talk on Plurispecific Cover Crops and the Use of the STICS Soil-crop Model for Analyzing Ecosystem Services. He introduced that during the fallow planting cover crops have reduce nitrate leaching, improve soil organic matter, limit the effects of soil erosion, improve soil fertility and other multiple with the use of STICS soil-crop model.
Prof. Chen Fu talked about the theory and practice of climate-smart agriculture. He introduced the concept, research content and development trend of climate-smart agriculture, providing new insights for agricultural development.
During the visit, the three experts also had a guided tour to Experiment Station for Animal Science (JAAS) and Donglin Circular Agriculture Demonstration Base in Taicang City.
