Co-constructed demo parks inaugurated in Suyu

The opening ceremony for the collaboration research program between JAAS and Suyu People’s Government was held on June 14, 2013. The newly-built Suqian Daylily Industry Park and Suyu Recycling Agriculture Demo Park (Two Parks) will play an active role in agriculture modernization and technical transfer.

To implement the provincial government proposal--Several Opinions on Making Greater Breakthroughs for Suqian’s Development, JAAS signed with Suqian municipal government the Cooperative Agreement for the Co-construction of Suqian into a Modern Eco-agriculture Demonstration City (MEDC) in 2011. In the past two years, JAAS directors and scientists with vice-senior titles have been selected to serve as deputy magistrates of Suqian County and they mainly take charge of the work for science and technology development in Suqian. The research competence and talent resources of JAAS have been closely integrated with local administration, thus to promote technical transfer and industrial development in Suqian (including Suyu District). The Two Parks now provide concrete platform to carry out scientific experiments and researches, which indicates a new stage for technical cooperation.

During the ceremony, JAAS President Yan Shaohua and Secretary-general Tian Hong of Suqian CPC Party Committee unveiled the plate for Daylily Industry Park. JAAS Vice President Zheng Jianchu and Secretary Cao Xiuming of CPC Party Committee of Suyu District unveiled the plate for Suyu Recycling Agriculture Demo Park.

JAAS President Yan Shaohua pledged that JAAS would deepen the all-round cooperation with Suyu District, center around regional market needs and enhance the core competence of local agriculture. Secretary-general Tian Hong hoped that the government officials and farmers would seize the opportunity to learn more practical techniques and ensure the success of relevant research programs.
