At the invitation of Prof. Shi Zhendan(director of National Animal Variety Improvement and Breeding Key Laboratory) of JAAS, Prof. Di Hongjie from Lincoln University (New Zealand) visited the Institute of Animal Sciences on April 24, 2013.
On Di’s tour to the Poultry Research Lab, Prof. Shi introduced to him the researches, scientists, research groups and platforms. They also discussed about the significance of environment protection to the control of harmful microorganisms, the detection of microorganisms with new technologies and the effects of microorganisms on animal raising and health, etc..
Prof. Di Hongjie, academician of New Zealand Royal Academy of Science and Technology, has made breakthroughs in agricultural non-point pollution and the emission of nitrous oxide (greenhouse gas). He has also developed new fertilizers and corresponding application techniques, which made New Zealand reduce greenhouse gas emission ahead of scheduled time. The technology has also been recommended by the United Nations as Leading Technology in Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Environment Protection.
