To better implement JASTIF Project “Breeding and Demonstration of New Rice Varieties with High Quality, High Yield, Wide Adaptability and Multiple Disease Resistances”, the annual meeting of its sub-project “Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Rice Diseases and Pests” was held at JAAS on January 22, 2013.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director Liu Yongfeng of the Institute of Plant Protection, and attended by 20 technical backbones from relevant institutes. Prof. Liu Yongfeng first reported the objectives and requirements of the project and deployed the research tasks. Then, chief scientists reported the research achievements in rice diseases and pests control technology, major fungi test, selection and utilization of resistance resources, etc. in 2012 and their work plans in 2013.
Project PI, Prof. Wang Cailin spoke highly of the achievement of the sub-project “Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Rice Diseases and Pests” in 2012 and stressed the significance of the project. He proposed that all research groups make persistent efforts for accelerating the breeding of new rice varieties with multiple disease resistances and promoting and extending new rice cultivation technology.
