Dr. Joshua Shuhua Yuan from Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Texas A&M University were invited to lecture at JAAS on "Tackling the Technical Barriers for Advanced Biofuels: from Systems Biology to Synthetic Design" on March 5, 2013. His latest research progress, state of the art research methods, and research design have given JAAS scientists new research directions. More than 80 scientists and graduate students from relevant institutes attended the lecture, chaired by Vice President Lu Xiaoxi.
Dr. Yuan is currently engaged in the research on biofuels, and has participated in many biofuels projects of USDE (United States Department of Energy), USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), and Texas State Government. He is also one of the panel members of USDE programs. He devotes himself to the Sino-US cooperation in biofuels, and is invited to be reviewer, associate editor, and guest editor of more than 20 international journals.
Vice President Chang Youhong presented Dr. Yuan the Letter of Appointment of Distinguished Professor of JAAS, which made Dr. Yuan the first overseas Distinguished Professor of JAAS in 2013. Dr. Yuan expressed his heartfelt thanks to be Distinguished Professor of JAAS, and wished to make his own effort to strengthen and promote JAAS international cooperation.
