JAAS Open Day, hosted by JAAS and Yangtze Evening, was held on March 22, 2014. JAAS President Yan Shaohua, Sub-inspector Zhou Gongsheng of Jiangsu Science and Technology Department, and Director Hu Yidong of Jiangsu Productivity Promotion Center attended this ceremony.
More than 680 varieties of peach trees in the National Peach Germplasm Nursery of JAAS were in full blossom; moreover, people could taste elite strawberries from Lishui, Jiangning, and Jurong, etc.. Among these strawberry varieties, “Zijinsiji” developed by the Institute of Horticulture could grow in four seasons of the year. Another strawberry variety “Ningyu” with early maturity become ripe in November, about half a month earlier than normal ones.
In addition, relative strawberry cultivation and processing techniques, as well as other scientific achievements were also announced at the meeting attended by more than 40 enterprises and 70 technicians.
The exhibition of the latest agricultural scientific achievements was still warmly welcomed by the citizens. New Japonica rice variety-Nanjing 9108, sister of Nanjing 46, tastes fragrant. Fermented black garlic tastes like sweet jelly. It is suitable for people who suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar and cancer. Other agri-products like yellow peach can, lotus tea, and Suzhong pork, etc. won enormous praise.
