Hosted by the Institute of Plant Protection of JAAS and undertaken by Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the 2013 annual meeting of Public Welfare and Industry Special Fund Project "Research and Demonstration of the Integrated Control Techniques of Virus Diseases Transmitted by Laodelphax Striatellus” was successfully held in Hangzhou. Director Zhang Zhenhua of Science, Technology and Education Division of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA, P.R. China), Deputy Director Wang Jianqiang of Crop Production of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA, P.R. China), Prof. Zhang Yuejin of National Agro-technology Extension Service Center, Prof. Li Yi of Peking University, JAAS Vice President Chang Youhong and other 50 directors attended the meeting.
Zhang Zhenhua spoke highly of the achievements during the past four years and put forth concrete requirements for the remaining work in the last year of the Project. He also stressed the importance to improve the efficiency of research expenditures. Wang Jianqiang talked about the great impact of virus diseases transmitted by Laodelphax striatellus on three major food crops. He proposed that the scientists of the Project accelerate the integration of on-site testing technologies and help to enhance early warning of virus diseases. Prof. Zhou Yijun, chief scientist of the Project, summarized the research progress of all participating units and deployed the tasks for the year of 2014. The attendants also held discussions on the achievements and existing problems during the meeting.
