Prof. Samson Mukaratirwa of the School of Life Sciences of University of KwaZulu-Natal led a delegation for an academic visit to JAAS from January 21 to 23, 2014. Early in 2010 and 2013, JAAS scientists received great hospitality and considerate reception during their visit at University of KwaZulu-Natal and carried out in-depth communication with relevant experts of the School of Life Sciences.
The current visit aimed to enhance mutual understanding, clarify cooperation details and discuss about the cooperation memorandum. JAAS Vice President Chang Youhong chaired the reception and both sides showed initial interest in cooperation in agriculture resources and environment, food safety and control, bio-technology, animal gene resources and swine breeding. After that, the delegates held separate discussions with relevant experts in the above research areas during January 21 to 23. On the afternoon of January 23, JAAS VP Chang attended the signing ceremony of cooperation memorandum, which included a comprehensive collaboration in exchange visits, talent cultivation, library resources sharing, etc.. The activity indicated a new beginning for deepened cooperation between JAAS and South Africa.
