- Profs. Stephen Moose and Ning Jiang lectured at JAAS
Prof. Stephen Moose of University of Illinois and Prof. Ning Jiang of Michigan State University lectured at the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology on March 12 and discussed about future collaboration.Prof. Stephen Moose specializes in maize genetic breeding, especially the efficient utilization of nitrogen during the growth of maize plant, and genetic regulation and molecular genetic mechanism under maize seed development. So far, his research group has published more than 30 articles in top journals, such as PNAS, and Plant Cell, etc.. Prof. Ning Jiang is mainly engaged in the research of transposons in plants. She focuses on the features of transposons sequence in eukaryotic genomes and its significance in the process of biological evolution. Also, her research team has published more than 30 articles in top journals, such as Nature, and PNAS, etc..
The two experts’ lectures were about “Big Grass Genomics for Discovery of Crop Productivity Genes” and “Selective Acquisition of Genomic Sequences by Pack-MULEs and its Impact on Gene Structure in Grasses”, in which they shared their successful experience in plant genetic research and introduced the latest international development trend of plant molecular breeding.
