Prof. Yu Jianmei of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (U.S.A.) visited the Institute of Agro-products Processing(IAP) of JAAS on July 3, 2014. Her research interests include food component stability, food ingredient interaction and their effects on food product development; improvement of food quality and safety by postharvest technology; functional foods and nutraceuticals with emphasis on the mechanism study of functional food ingredients on the prevention of obesity.
Prof. Yu made an academic report on Chemical Composition of Grape Pomace and Its Function in Obesity Prevention, which analyzed the extraction of functional substances in grape pomace and relevant applications. IAP Director Liu Chunquan introduced recent development of IAP and accompanied Yu to visit IAP labs. Both sides held discussions on further cooperation, especially in exchange visits, joint project application and other aspects.
