Profs. Richard Horsley, Paul Schwarz, Elias Elias of the School of Plant Sciences and Assoc. Prof. Robert Brueggeman of the School of plant pathology of North Dakota State University (USA) made an academic visit to the Institute of Biotechnology from May 19 to 23, 2014. North Dakota State University and the Institute of Biotechnology has long been in cooperative relationship in breeding of barley and hard wheat varieties with resistances to fusarium head blight. During the visit, the visiting professors, together with JAAS scientists, recorded the information of 2000 barley and 1000 hard wheat samples and materials. They also attended the outreach meeting of JAAS new wheat variety Ningmai 21, which was held by JAAS at Luhe Animal Sciences Station. Experts of two countries held in-depth discussions on new varieties breeding, demonstration and extension and other cooperation details.
