The outreach meeting of the project Major Rice Pests and Diseases Prevention and Control Technology Research and Integrated Demonstration was held. This project is supported by the grant from the 12th Five-Year National Key Technology Research and Development Program and chaired by JAAS. Directors and over thirty experts from Sun Yat-Sen University, China Agricultural University, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ZAAS) and JAAS attended the meeting.
The directors and experts first visited the demo station in Erling Town, Danyang, and inspected the experiment of new comprehensive pests and diseases prevention and control technology. They showed a keen interest in the new microorganism prevention and control technology against rice planthopper and other pests and diseases.
The project leader, Prof. Guo Huifang summarized major research progress since the approval of the project, including the occurrence of major rice pests and diseases, new prevention and control technology, and preliminary integrated demonstration. Then, all the participating institutes reported their research progresses and discussed about the improvement of project research, fund use, and internal cooperation.
Finally, Director Fang Jichao of the Institute of Plant Protection spoke highly of the achievements since the approval of the project, and gave his suggestions at the same time. He proposed that all the participating institutes should incorporate local features into their researches, and thus form the characteristics and advantages of this project. This outreach meeting laid a sound foundation for further project research.
