Peach breeding expert, Prof. Thierry Pascal of French National Institute for Agricultural Research (GAFL, INRA) visited the Institute of Horticulture (IOH) of JAAS for a month in October, 2013. He gave a lecture titled "New insights into peach public breeding programs in France: advances and prospects" on October 28, introducing the latest research progress and development of French peach public breeding programs. He also introduced genetic mechanism and resistance loci map location of aphid, powdery mildew, root-knot nematode resistant traits, blood-flesh peach gene mapping and breeding, etc.. After the lecture, Director Yu Mingliang, Prof. Ma Ruijuan, and peach scientists of IOH had an in-depth discussion with Prof. Thierry Pascal and agreed to study blood-flesh peach in collaboration.
Since 2009, JAAS has been carrying out close cooperation with INRA. Five French experts have visited IOH. Both sides have done collaborative research in genetic breeding, linkage construction, QTL detection, etc..
