China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Forum on New Technologies and Varieties of Modern Agriculture was held in Kunming, China on August 22, 2013. Delegations from ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, Republic of Korea, New Zealand and China carried out fruitful exchanges on high-efficiency, high-quality and intensive agriculture. The representatives Department of Technical Service (DTS) of JAAS attended the forum.
The forum aims to promote international cooperation in science and technology, improve regional agricultural production and innovation capability, accelerate extension and technical transfer of the new technologies and varieties of modern agriculture, and promote the sustainable agriculture development in China and ASEAN countries. During the forum, DTS Director Zhou Jiantao introduced the latest research progress of JAAS, which aroused great interests from the delegates of ASEAN countries. Director Zhou also reached cooperation agreement with the representatives of Cluster Program Management Office of National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) of Thailand. Both sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in new varieties breeding, agro-tech exchanges, human resources development and agro-tech demonstration and extension.
