The Seminar on the Specification for Prevention & Control Technology of Mycotoxin Contamination in Grain & Oil Products was held at the Institute of Food Safety and Monitoring Technology (IFSMT) on November 25 and 26.
Director Dong Hongyan of Farm Produce Quality & Safety Supervision Bureau, the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Deputy Director Qian Yongzhong of Farm Produce Quality Standardization Research Center (FPQSRC), MOA, and Deputy Director Wang Fengzhong of the Institute of Agro-products Processing Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), etc. were invited to the meeting.
The meeting was aimed at Public Welfare and Industry Special Fund Project—Safety Control for Agro-products, and intended to set specifications for prevention & control technology of mycotoxin contamination in grain & oil products like wheat from their cultivation to processing.
The meeting was chaired by Director Wang Min of FPQSRC. Prof. Shi Jianrong of IFSMT elaborated the harm of wheat biotoxins. Deputy Director Ding Xiaoxia of Oil and Products Quality and Safety Supervision and Testing Center, MOA introduced the experience in setting the specifications for prevention & control technology of peanut aflatoxin. The experts offered their suggestions on the control of biotoxins in grain & oil products like wheat. Director Liu Xianjin of IFSMT, as the project P.I., asked for a specification reflecting the characteristics of agro-product safety major. Director Dong Hongyan agreed with the experts’ opinions and praised the meeting as a timely one that could lead the prevention & control of biotoxins in grain & oil products like wheat. Finally, Director Wang Min and Prof. Shi Jianrong summarized the meeting and wished to work out a specification guiding the quality and safety of grain & oil products.
