Outreach meeting of new brassicaceous vegetable varieties held at JAAS

 
The 2013 outreach meeting of new brassicaceous vegetable varieties was held at Luhe Animal Sciences Station on October 29. JAAS Vice President Chang Youhong, Director Chen Hongqiang of Rural Division of Jiangsu Science and Technology Department, and Director Zou Fanggang of Seed Management Station of Jiangsu Agricultural Commission, etc. were invited to the meeting.
 
The meeting was held to further strengthen cooperation with seed companies and to accelerate the promotion and transformation of new brassicaceous vegetable varieties developed by the Institute of Vegetable Crops (IVC). The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director Zhang Chuxian of Intellectual Property Rights Division. Director Yang Xinping of IVC delivered a welcome speech at the meeting, and Deputy Director Zhao Tongmin reviewed the development and achievement of IVC.
 

 
VP Chang spoke highly of the breeding and promotion of new independent innovative vegetable varieties of IVC, and hoped IVC could make full use of its strengths in variety, technology, and talents to take the lead in this area. Other directors wished IVC to strengthen cooperation with relevant enterprises and increase the market share of the self-developed varieties.

The delegates inspected new kale and nappa cabbage (hybrid) varieties in the fields, and listened to the breeders’ introduction to their characteristics. They also inspected other beans, melons, and solanaceous vegetables developed by IVC.
