The First Assembly of Jiangsu Agro-Ecological Protection Society (JAEPS) was held in Jurong on May 31, 2011. Prof. Zheng Jianchu, vice president of JAAS and Prof. Chang Zhizhou, director of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment of JAAS attended the meeting. Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) was elected as the standing member of JAEPS and Prof. Zheng Jianchu elected as vice chairman.
JAEPS is a professional association initiated by JAAS and other six agricultural institutions to meet the development strategies proposed by CPC (Communist Party of China) Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Jiangsu Provincial government. Technology innovation and relevant programs are listed again in the agenda of Jiangsu agriculture development strategies. Administrated by Jiangsu Agriculture Commission, JAEPS aims at promoting sustainable agriculture development and agro-ecological protection with concerted efforts from agriculture institutions, enterprises and practitioners.
The assembly discussed the draft regulations of JAEPS and elected standing members, chairman and other chiefs.
