Dr. Mao Jingdong from the Old Dominion University (ODU), the U.S.A. was invited to give an academic talk on the application of Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy Technique to the research of SOM (Soil Organic Matter) composition and structure in the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment (IARE) on the morning of June 16, 2011. More than 30 scientists and graduates attended the seminar and IARE Director Chang Zhizhou presided over it.
As an associate professor of the department of chemistry and biochemistry of ODU and deputy editor of Journal of Geophysical Research(JGR), Dr. Mao Jingdong has published 56 SCI-cited papers and the papers were cited for more than 800 times. Based on his own research, Dr. Mao introduced the application of Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy Technique to the research of SOM (Soil Organic Matter) composition and structure. He also stressed the function of Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy Technique in the research in agriculture and environment, and its potential impact of research. After the seminar, Dr. Mao held a discussion with JAAS scientists and technicians. Both sides expressed their wishes to strengthen academic exchanges and carry out cooperation.
