JAAS independent innovation: Outreach Meeting held to release the latest canola breeding results

 
To accelerate the extension of new canola varieties and promote the canola industry development, the Institute of Industrial Crops (IIC) of JAAS (Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences) held an outreach meeting to release the latest canola research results in Lishui Plant Sciences Station (LPSS) on the afternoon of May 23, 2011. The meeting invited more than 30 representatives from 6 well-known seed companies in Jiangsu, namely, Zhongjiang Seeds, Jiangsu Tomorrow, Nanjing Red Sun Seeds, Zhenhua Seeds Company, Nanjing Shenzhou Seeds and Dongtai Yellow Sea Seed Station. Prof. Yu Wengui, vice president of JAAS, attended the meeting and made important speeches. He spoke positively of the research progress made by the canola research teams of JAAS and stressed the development goals of canola research with a special emphasis on national economy development and consumer needs.
 
Deputy Director Zhang Jiefu of IIC showed the new canola varieties and briefed on the research results achieved by the research teams. After that, the representatives made filed observations in LAPP to investigate the growth conditions of the new canola varieties and all of them showed great interest with cooperation intent.
 
Prof. Chen Zhishi, director of the Division of Intellectual Property Rights and Associate Prof. Huan Honghua, deputy director of the Division of Scientific Research attended the meeting, which was chaired by Prof. Qi Cunkou, director of IIC and Principal Investigator (PI) of National Canola Industry System.
