Dr. Qian Jianfei, Instructor of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and former deputy director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine (IVM) of JAAS, was invited to give a lecture on T-cell epitope mapping and vaccine development in IVM on April 18, 2011. The seminar was presided over by Director He Kongwang and attended by Secretary Hou Jibo of IVM Party Committee, Deputy Director Zhao Yongqian and other 60 scientists from IVM and National Research Center of Veterinary Biologicals Engineering and Technology.
Dr. Qian briefed on the present research situation of international cancer vaccine and detailed his latest research in T-cell epitope mapping in M. D. Anderson Cancer Research Center in America. He explained in detail the selection and verification techniques of T-cell epitope and the application value of T-cell epitope synthetic peptide vaccine in cancer vaccine R&D. At the same time, he prospected the application of synthetic peptide vaccine in veterinary medicine and presented constructive suggestions.
After his lecture, Dr. Qian had an extensive and in-depth discussion with the attendants on T-cell epitope selection, synthetic peptide vaccine and molecular designing of vaccines.
