To consolidate knowledge and experience in canola research and to explore new breeding strategies and cultivation methods, JAAS (Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences) canola research team held a canola seminar and discussed the application of Jiangsu Agriculture Science and Technology Innovation Fund (JASTIF). Altogether 20 canola breeding and cultivating experts attended the meeting and they were from Nanjing Agriculture University, Yangzhou University, the Institute of Industrial Crops of JAAS and the Agricultural Sciences Institutes in Yangzhou, Suzhou, Yancheng, Huaiyin and Zhenjiang.
Prof. Qi Cunkou, director of the Institute of Industrial Crops of JAAS, chaired the seminar and elucidate the progress of 2010 JASTIF programs. After that, the representatives made separate reports of the progresses of JASTIF programs undertaken by their institute/university. The experts discussed about the joint application of JASTIF for the program Breeding of New Canola Varieties Fit to Mechanization and Simplified Cultivation Techniques and determined the research goals, contents, assessment, work tasks and distribution of research funds. The seminar reached an agreement on funding expenditure and proposal application.
