Guests from Asia and Africa visited Lishui Plant Sciences Station (LPSS) of JAAS

 

 
Thirty seven guests who attended the Seminar on Agricultural Management for Developing Countries hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, P. R. China visited Lishui Plant Sciences Station (LPSS) of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) on May 25, 2011. These guests were all government officials from the agriculture sectors from Asian and African countries, including Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Nigeria, etc. JAAS Foreign Affairs Office received the guests and accompanied the visit.
 
After 40 minutes' drive from JAAS, the guests arrived at LPSS near the Baima Lake. They listened to the introductions of JAAS and its research strength, and were informed of the layout of LPSS and its functions in agriculture innovation. After that, they had a guided tour to the testing fields, facility cultivation greenhouse and the High Value Horticulture Crop Seedling Industry Demo Station. With lush fields, advanced equipments and diverse areas of research, LPSS not only serves as a plant research station, but also a demo station for modern agriculture development.
 
During the visit, the guests showed great interest in JAAS research results, especially in the vegetables, flowers, and field crops with great adaptability to climate and environment. They appreciate the achievements made by JAAS, and stated their strong desire for a long-term cooperation in agricultural research.
