The Tenth Annual Meeting of Agriculture Consulting Team (ACT) and JAAS Independent Innovation Outreach Meeting held its grand opening in Wujiazui, Gaochun on July 19, 2011. ACT, jointly established by academies from two provinces and one municipality directly under the Central Government (Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai), offers agriculture consulting service using state of the art agriculture research results. Huang Lixin, standing member of Jiangsu Committee of CPC and vice governor of Jiangsu Province, attended the meeting and made a keynote speech. The meeting was presided over by JAAS Vice President Zhao Xihua and joined by Deputy Mayor Chen Weijian of Nanjing City, Deputy Secretary-General Yang Genping of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, JAAS President Yan Shaohua, JAAS Vice Presidents Zhao Xihua, Lu Xiaoxi and Chang Youhong, ZAAS (Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences) President Chen Jianping, Deputy Inspector Zhang Mingsheng, SAAS (Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences) Vice President Gu Xiaojun, Gaochun County Magistrate Shen Jianrong.
During her speech, Vice Governor Huang proposed that, as the three academies boasted strong agricultural research forces, they should continue to deepen their cooperation, optimize regional resources, accelerate technology service and extension and thus make more contributions to modern agriculture development. She stressed that, the ACT should reach more farmers and increase their knowledge, expand service areas and improve agriculture efficiency, deepen cooperation and accelerate the construction of technology transfer network and finally, promote the extensive application of research results and make more contributions to the agriculture development in the three places.
JAAS President Yan Shaohua summed up ACT achievements in the past ten years, including the establishments of joint demo parks, development of leading agricultural industries, cooperation in breakthroughs and extension of science and technology in the countryside. President Yan stressed that, ACT has entered a new stage after 10 years of exploration and development. With the guidance of Vice Governor Huang, ACT will continue to center on regional modern agriculture development, strengthen cooperation in innovation system establishment, demo park construction, research results extension and therefore, provide a solid support to agriculture development in in the Yangtze River Delta.
During the meeting, the leaders and director unveiled the plagues of demo stations and research centers and presented awards to 30 ACT experts, and ten of them were from JAAS. During the meeting, Vice Governor Huang visited Wujiazui Agriculture Science and Technology Demo Park jointly constructed by the three academies and their new innovation products.
