JICE Guests Kazuhide KIMURA, Saburo MORII and Minako ITO visited JAAS

Accompanied by Director Wu Dan from Jiangsu People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (JSPAFFC), Mr. Kazuhide KIMURA, Mr. Saburo MORII and Miss. Minako ITO from Overseas Business Department of Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) made an academic visit to JAAS on July 26, 2011. The guests visited the main campus of JAAS and its Lixiahe Agricultural Sciences Institute (LASI) in Yangzhou as well as its Luhe Animal Sciences Station (LASS). JAAS Secretary Zhao Xihua of CPC Party Committee presided over the reception and accompanied the whole visit.
 

 
Secretary Zhao went all the way from Nanjing to Yangzhou to accompany the Japanese guests on the morning of July 26. During the reception, he extended warm welcome to the guests and briefed them Jiangsu modern agriculture development and JAAS research strengths. He also reviewed the cooperation and communication between JAAS and JICE in agriculture and expressed his wishes for a more extensive and long-term cooperation through frequent exchanges and visits. Prof. Ma Tanbin, director of LASI, introduced LASI development and achievements. After the meeting, the guests had a guided tour to the orchid garden, water plant garden and the agricultural produce irradiation center in LASI.
 

 
After the LASI visit, the guests headed to LASS in Nanjing in the afternoon. There they learned about the advanced technology of raising pigs on fermentation bed, Boer goat breeding, cultivation of organic vegetables and agriculture circular system. They were also invited to a seminar presided over by Secretary Zhao Xihua on JAAS main campus.
 
Deputy Director Weng Weimin of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of Jiangsu Agriculture Commission, Director Sun Hongwu of JAAS General Office, Director Wang Cailin of the Institute of Food Crops, Director Chang Zhizhou of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment and members from JAAS FAO (Foreign Affairs Office) attended the seminar.
 
Both sides carried out fruitful discussions on facility agriculture, agricultural resources and environment, agriculture machinery and other related areas. The JICE guests were amazed at JAAS’s development by leaps and bounds and said that JICE would provide a convenient platform for JAAS and Japanese institutions to carry out cooperation exchanges, talent trainings and mutual visits. Secretary Zhao expressed his wishes that the visit would help to push the cooperation and exchanges of the two sides to a higher level.
