Symposium held for pear standardized production

 

The symposium for pear standardized production was held in Hai'an on August 12, 2011. The symposium was hosted by National Pear Industry System and Jiangsu Horticulture Techniques Extension Station, coordinated by Nantong Agriculture Commission and operated by Hai'an Agriculture Commission. 65 directors, professors, specialists, scientists and technicians attended the symposium and they were representatives from Horticulture Station of Jiangsu Agriculture Commission, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS), Nanjing Agricultural University, Jiangsu Pear Industry Association, relevant agriculture and forestry sectors, fruit tree stations and key orchards.

 

The symposium was chaired by Prof. Sheng Baolong, director of Xuzhou Comprehensive Test Station of National Pear Industry System. Director Xu Long of Hai'an Agriculture Commission made a speech to extend warm welcome to the attendants. Prof. Chen Zongyuan of Jiangsu Horticulture Techniques Extension Station made a report on the construction of standard orchards, and detailed in his report the significance, requirements and procedures of the construction. Prof. Wu Jun of Nanjing Agricultural University, PI of molecular breeding of National Pear Industry System reported the new pear varieties and breeding abroad. Prof. Lin Jing of JAAS introduced in his report the pear protection machinery and pesticides and Deputy Director Shi Zhongxuan talked about his opinion on the pear industry development. After the symposium, the attendants had a guided tour to Hai'an Xingao Fruit Co. Ltd.
