The Red Cross Society of China Jiangsu Branch provided on-site rescue classes to meet the needs of JAAS employees from July 7 to 8, 2011 to implement the guidelines of the provincial government on first-aid training in provincial institutions and administrative sectors.
JAAS Vice President Zhou Jiannong presided over the opening ceremony, and the Provincial Red Cross CPC Party Branch member, Secretary-General Li Yuning delivered the opening speech. Li briefed the history of the Red Cross and its mission, emphasizing the importance and necessity of first-aid and mutual help. Vice President Zhou Jiannong proposed that all the participants should make full use of the knowledge learned from training classes, and cherish life and save their own and even others when the emergency occurs.
104 scientists and technicians from JAAS administrative sectors, on-campus research institutes and enterprises participated in the training. In addition to the lecture, more than 90 participants practiced the rescue operation. Instructors carefully explained and demonstrated, and participants attentively listened and actively practiced. The scientists and technicians said that the training was fruitful in that they leant many useful lifesaving skills of great necessity and significance.
