Institute of Industrial Crops: 2011 Academic Exchange Seminar

The Institute of Industrial Crops held an academic exchange seminar on January 4, 2011. Twenty-four scientists and staff made reports to exchange their research progress in the past year of 2010, and nineteen among those reporters were aged under forty. Their reports covered such areas like molecular biology, molecular breeding, culture physiology, collection and selection of energy crops in emerging industries, etc. The conference also invited five senior experts Fu Shouzhong, Li Xiuzhang, Ge Zhinan, Shen Duanzhuang, Xu Lihua to give on-scene comments.
 
This seminar comprehensively reflected the achievements of all research teams in 2010 and refracted out the different academic levels of researchers. Those youthful scientists and technicians have made significant progresses in applied basic researches such as QTL fine mapping, gene cloning, molecular marker developing, vector and library construction. Their research areas have also extended from cotton, canola to organic tea, yam, stevia and sweet sorghum, etc.
 
Through this seminar, the scientists and staff freely exchanged their academic thoughts, broadened the scholarly research horizon, strengthened their innovation abilities, and also practiced their presentation skills. At the end of the seminar, Director Qi Cunkou made a speech of summary and deployed the research tasks of 2011.
