Annual Meeting of Agriculture Consulting Team (ACT) Held in Shanghai

Academies of agricultural sciences from Zhejiang, Shanghai and Jiangsu had their 9th ACT annual meeting on July 4, 2010 in Fengxian, Shanghai. ACT, jointly established by academies from three provinces, offers agriculture consulting service using state of the art agriculture research results. Vice President Zheng Jianchu from Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS), Vice President Zhang Mingsheng from Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ZAAS) and Vice President Gu Xiaojun from Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) as well as other directors attended this meeting.

These academies in the Yangtze River Delta have been closely cooperated and made great progress in agricultural research in the past eight years. The guiding principles for cooperation are "three academies for one delta, every academy for three provinces" and "achievements sharing, advantage complementation, and mutual displacement of experts". The three academies made separate work reports, discussed hot issues and exchanged their research experiences.

Before the meeting, the attendants visited Zhuangxing Farm Base in Fengxian District, Shanghai. A handing-over ceremony of chairmanship for the new round cooperation was held during the meeting. ACT will see its 10th birthday next year. Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) will take over the chairmanship and establish a series of agriculture demo parks, firmly pushing forward modern agriculture development.
