Prof. Jim Dunwell from the University of Reading (UK) had an academic visit to the Institute of Horticulture and gave a seminar on the UK national fruit germplasm collection and exploitation on the morning of April 7, 2011. Prof. Jim Dunwell introduced the methods of fruit trees germplasm collection, preservation and description. He also described the exploitation of germplasm diversity under global warming conditions. The seminar provides insights into fruit tree research for the Institute of Horticulture. Deputy Director Su Jiale presided over the seminar. After seminar, Prof. Jim Dunwell, accompanied by Prof. Ma Ruijuan, had a guided tour of the peach germplasm nurseries located at JAAS.
