The A5 front page headline "a Golden Seed Wins the World" of Xinhua Daily on April 2 has drawn the public attention once again to JAAS independent innovation and technology transfer projects since 2011, which is the accomplishment of JAAS General Office’s efforts to promote technology extension.
Since the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, JAAS has bred over 50 new crop varieties on an annual basis. The breeding and extension of new varieties of oil crops characterized with high-yield, good-quality and multi-resistance have significantly improved the staple crop production in Jiangsu. The reliance of exotic varieties has also been effectively reduced. Relevant mass media and their news focused on the extension of new crop varieties and gave their full attention of the updates of JAAS in supporting modern agriculture development, which undoubtedly increased JAAS social impact.
With the coordination of the Division of Scientific Research, the JAAS General Office has selected some new varieties with market potential and broadcasted them in recent newspapers. Since March this year, under the organization of JAAS General Office, Xinhua Daily and other mass media have made intensive reports of the independent innovation of JAAS, which aroused widespread interest from the public.
In the coming days, the General Office will ally with the Division of Technical Service to give special publicity of the technical service of JAAS in technology extension.
