JAAS Holds Meetings on the Industrial System of Modern Agriculture

JAAS recently held meetings on the industrial system of modern agriculture in Nanjing and Yangzhou.Altogether over 40 scientists attended the meetings, among whom there were chief scientists in the system, principal investigators and directors of experiment stations.
 
The industrial system of modern agriculture is playing an important role in the agricultural technological innovation system. At the meetings, vice president Chang Youhong said that the scientists concerned should be fully aware of the role and significance of the system and their missions and responsibilities, and work hard to make their contribution to the agricultural development in the country. Mr. Chang stressed that the scientists should take a series of measures to fulfill their tasks. He also suggested that a liaison office for the system should be established under the Department of Research Management so that departments and offices involved could work together to provide better management and services and build up a bridge for the communication and collaboration between the scientists concerned. Mr. Chang noted that scientists should improve capability of technological innovation and make more achievements, and by making full use of the system ensure a stable innovative research team, tackle a technological difficulty, produce an innovative outcome and serve the development of an industry. He demanded that the outreach activities should be strengthened and the administration section should build up a team to serve the scientists concerned, put the innovative achievements on display sooner, strengthen JAAS cooperation with related extension departments and extend the influences of the achievement demonstration.
 
The scientists reported at the meetings their work on the post or at the experiment station during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, exchanged their views on how to promote the system construction, and had constructive discussions about how to optimize system construction tasks and other research work and how to act in dual roles of a principal investigator and an experiment station director.
