Jiangsu New Veterinary Medicine Industry and Innovation Alliance established in Nanjing

 
The founding ceremony for Jiangsu New Veterinary Medicine Industry and Innovation Alliance (hereafter referred as Alliance) and the first Alliance convention was held in JAAS on March 21, 2012. More than 60 representatives from 34 veterinary medicine enterprises, academies, universities attended the convention, which was chaired by General Manager Zhang Xiaofei of Nanjing Tech-bank Bio-Industry Co, Ltd., the JAAS wholly owned veterinary vaccine company.
 

 
Prof. Zheng Jianchu, chairman of the board of Nanjing Tech-bank Bio-Industry Co, Ltd., first chairman of the Alliance and vice president of JAAS, briefed the achievements of JAAS in veterinary medicine researches and extension, analyzed the status quo and market needs of Jiangsu veterinary medicine industry and emphasized the importance of the establishment of the Alliance. The Alliance aims to enhance the core competitiveness and innovation capability of Jiangsu veterinary medicine technologies, to break the bottlenecks and structural constraints and to introduce and cultivate a group of elite scientists and R&D talents, which will also contribute to the application for a state-level Industry and Innovation Alliance.
 

 
Director Hou Jibo of National Engineering Center for Veterinary Bio-products made a work report on the construction of the Alliance. It was initiated by Nanjing Tech-bank Bio-Industry Co, Ltd., National Engineering Center for Veterinary Bio-products and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of JAAS. Nanjing Agricultural University, Yangzhou University and Shanghai Institute of Veterinary of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanjing Tech-bank Bio-Industry Co, Ltd., Nanjing Yurun Company and other enterprises joined in the Alliance. During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan Period, the Alliance will be built into a resource sharing platform, a technology innovation platform, a technical transfer platform and a technology service platform for veterinary bio-products, chemical medicines, traditional Chinese veterinary medicine and other practical techniques.
 

 
During the convention, Deputy Director Wu Xiang of the Division of Rural Construction of Jiangsu Science and Technology Department announced the approval document of the Alliance. Deputy Director Li Qi of Jiangsu Science and Technology Department, Deputy Director Bi Haorong of Jiangsu Veterinary Medicine Monitoring Institute, Deputy Director Yu Jianyu of Jiangsu Science and Technology Commission and Vice President Zheng Jianchu of JAAS unveiled the plate for the Alliance.
 
 
Deputy Director Li Qi of Jiangsu Science and Technology Department presented his proposals to the Alliance, first, the alliance members should enhance cohesion and promote cooperation; second, enterprises should be the main entity, and research, education and industry should be closely connected. The focus should be on innovation and new products R&D; third, the operation mechanism should encourage benefits sharing as well as risk sharing; fourth, the Alliance should keep open and the core group should be formed.
