Dr. Mark William Farnham of USDA-ARS-U.S. lectured at JAAS

 
Dr. Mark William Farnham, director of USDA-ARS-U.S. Vegetable Laboratory and senior vegetable breeding scientist, visited the Institute of Vegetable Crops of JAAS on April 19, 2012. His visit was accompanied by Prof. Liu Yumei of the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers and Zhu Jinning of the Research Management Division of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
 

 
 
The lecture was hosted by Deputy Director Chen Xin of the Institute of Vegetable Crops. He made a welcome speech to Dr. Mark William Farnham and introduced in his speech the general situation of Jiangsu Province, JAAS and the Institute. He also talked about the research fruits and international cooperation of the Institute, with demonstration of latest research results. Dr. Mark William Farnham gave a lecture on Crop Improvement Research at the USDA-ARS-U.S. Vegetable Laboratory and a Close Look at One Program Focused on Breeding Broccoli for Adaptation to High Temperature Environments. Both sides held discussions on relevant research areas. After the lecture, Dr. Mark William Farnham had an academic visit to the High-value Horticulture Crops Genetic Improvement Laboratory, testing fields of the Institute of Vegetable Crops, JAAS Expo, and large broccoli production station.
