Jiangsu Coastal Area Institute of Agricultural Sciences: meeting held to promote the construction of Jiangsu Coastal Agriculture Engineering Research Center(JCAERC)

 
The meeting to promote the construction of Jiangsu Coastal Agriculture Engineering Research Center (JCAERC) was held from March 8 to 9, 2012 at Jiangsu Coastal Area Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Deputy Director Cai Jianjun of Yancheng Science and Technology Department, and relevant experts from Institute of Soil Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, Yancheng Normal University, the Institute of Biotechnology (JAAS), the Institute of Animal Sciences (JAAS), the Institute of Agricultural Environment and Resources(JAAS) and the Institute of Agricultural Produce Processing(JAAS) attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Yao Lisheng, director of JCAERC and Jiangsu Coastal Area Institute of Agricultural Sciences. JAAS Vice President Chang Youhong was invited to the meeting.   
 

 
During the meeting, the JCAERC chiefs reported the progress, achievements and future plans, and the experts presented valuable suggestions for JCAERC future research objectives and contents. Deputy Director Cai specified the management and operation requirements for JCAERC.
 
JAAS Vice President Chang Youhong made an important speech during the meeting. JAAS has made remarkable progress in saline agriculture and Jiangsu Coastal Area Institute of Agricultural Sciences has been the main institution to carry out relevant researches. As for the function of JCAERC and its promotion, Chang stressed that, first, it should be a platform for coordinated innovation; second, specific research projects should be carried out to increase outputs; third, the experiment station should provide supports in technical transfer.
 
 
The unveiling ceremony for JCAERC was held and the attendants had a guided tour to the labs after the meeting.
