Dr. Vidadi Yusibov from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft was visited to the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and National Engineering Center for Veterinary Bio-products on May 23, 2012. His lecture on Plant-based High-Performance Production System was attended by all the scientists and technicians of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and National Engineering Center for Veterinary Bio-products.
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is Europe's largest application-oriented research organization for public welfare. It aims to develop new technologies, new products and new techniques for enterprises to improve their research capabilities. Dr. Vidadi Yusibov is mainly engaged in the R&D of animal vaccines based on the expression system of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). In his report, Dr. Vidadi Yusibov detailed the stability of plant expression system that can be used to enlarge production. The GMP workshop operates with only 1/8 of the cost of eukaryotic expression system, and has already produced the antigens for 35 influenza viruses. After the lecture, he also carried out in-depth discussion with JAAS scientists on the design and expression of target protein, expression and purification of plant antigens, etc.
Both sides held extensive discussions and exchanges, which deepened mutual understanding and laid a good foundation for further collaboration.
