Members of Jiangsu Maize Breeding Collaborative Group visited Dandong, Liaoning

 
Prof. Yuan Jianhua, chief scientist of Jiangsu Maize Breeding Collaborative Group, led a delegation of 18 scientists and technicians from the Institute of Food Crops of JAAS, Nantong Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Xuzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the School of Agriculture from Yangzhou University, Jiangsu Zhongjang Seed Company, Suqian Zhongjiang Seed Company and Jiangsu Dahua Seed Group to Dandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (DAAS) in Liaoning Province from September 4 to 7, 2011.

DAAS is a famous agriculture research institution in China with complete disciplines. It has made major breakthroughs in maize breeding, and the academy has been named as National Maize Original Seed Station and Dandong Sub-center of National Maize Improvement Center. The delegation visited the testing fields and demo station of new maize varieties, acquainted themselves with DAAS history, innovations and latest research of maize breeding. The delegation also attended National Maize Genetic Breeding Symposium undertaken by DAAS.
 
Through the visit, Jiangsu maize breeders learnt the successful experiences from DAAS in maize genetic breeding and germplasm innovation, which had a positive impact on the enhancement of Jiangsu maize breeding innovation capabilities.
