Institute of Food Crops: academic lectures and workshops for young scientists

 
The Institute of Food Crops (IFC) held academic lectures delivered by young scientists on February 24, 2012. The event is aimed to create a dynamic research atmosphere, enhance the academic performance and promote scientific innovation among the youth. Focusing on the research programs they undertook, 25 young scientists at the age below 35 gave lectures on gene mapping of novel mutations, characterization of salt-tolerant cop varieties, gene identification and cloning of the properties that affect rice yield and quality, etc. Over 60 attendees, including all the scientists of IFC and graduate students, were present at the lectures.
 

 
The meeting was hosted by IFC Deputy Director Yuan Jianhua. Selected by all the members in the academic committee of IFC and the other attendees, 3 young scientists (Mr. Chen Tao, Mr. Wang Jun, Ms. Zhu Jinyan) won the first prize, 5 young scientists (Mr. Bian Xiaofeng, Mr. Zhang Yadong, Ms. Liu Yonghui, Mr. Zhang Meijing, Mr. Shen Yi) the second prize and 8 young scientists (Ms. Jiang Yanjie, Mr. Ma Peiyong, Mr. Yang Xin, Mr. Zhang Suobing, Ms. Yao Shu, Mr. Wei Xiaodong, Ms. Zhu Yin, Ms. Zhao Chunfang) the third prize.
