The battle to clean up the Dianchi Lake was launched in May, 2011, which was technically supported by JAAS. In 2011, the water hyacinth coverage in Grass Sea reached 50%, with an area of 553 hectares. The water quality has been significantly improved, with TN (total nitrogen) reduced to 2.42mg/L from 11.08mg/L and TP (total phosphorus) reduced to 0.13mg/L from 0.22mg/L. At present, large scale harvesting and processing has been carried out.
