Seminar on Canola Research & Production in the Lower Reaches of Yangtze River was held in the Institute of Industrial Crops of JAAS on December 20, 2011. More than 20 canola scientists from Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences and JAAS (Jiangsu, Shanghai and Anhui are the main canola belt in the lower reaches of Yangtze River.) attended the seminar, which was chaired by Prof. Qi Cunkou, director of the Institute of Industrial Crops of JAAS and chief scientist of National Canola Industry System.
The scientists made separate reports on the production and existing problems in their places and discussed the research progress of the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program )—R&D and Extension of High Heterosis Combinations of Brassica napus in the Lower Reaches of Yangtze River. The seminar also announced that Symposium on Canola Industry & Technology in the Lower Reaches of Yangtze River will be held on April, 2012. After the seminar, the attendants had a guided tour to the testing fields on the main campus and Lishui Plant Sciences Station of JAAS.
