The launching ceremony of Public Welfare and Industry Special Fund Project – Research and Demonstration of Integrated Crop-livestock Farming System and Agricultural Intensification was held in Nanjing on January 7, 2012.
Crop residues and human & animal waste, once used as traditional fuel and fertilizer resources, have now become the pollution sources with the separation of crop planting and animal husbandry. The project has carried out researches of integrated crop-livestock farming techniques, supporting techniques, wastes recycling, evaluation system and industry development systems in the raising of pigs, cattle, sheep and also freshwater aquaculture. Efficient resource utilization and reasonable circulation will be realized in different regions, and demo parks have been and will be established in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Anhui to provide support for integrated crop-livestock farming in China.
Director Zhang Zhenhua of Science and Education Division of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA, P.R. China) and Deputy Director Du Yonglin of Science and Education Division of Jiangsu Agriculture Commission were invited to the ceremony. JAAS President Yan Shaohua, Vice President Zheng Jianchu, Director Huang Jun and Deputy Director Shen Qi of Research Management Division, Deputy Director Zhou Na of Finance Division and more than 40 project staff attended the ceremony.
